WHEELCHAIR TENNIS / BRITISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS / NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND
It seems lighting really done strike twice in the same place. The British Open Championships in Nottingham saw almost identical outcomes to the Belgian Open the week before with the winners in each of Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Quad’s Singles and Quad’s Doubles being the same. The only difference being that Stephane Houdet partnered Nicolas Peifer to victory in the final of the Men’s Doubles rather than compatriot Frederic Cattaneo.
The remarkable results meant that Gustavo Fernandez (ARG), Nicolas Peifer (FRA), Yui Kamiji (JPN), Marjolein Buis, Aniek Van Koot (NED), David Wagner, Bryan Barten (USA) all picked up back to back victories. Stephane Houdet completed a great week by adding the Mixed Doubles title to his collection alongside Lucy Shuker of Great Britain. The next ITF 1 Series tournament takes place in Birmingham, Canada between 24-27 August.
