Parasports World 60 Seconds with Louise Willerslev-Olsen
Updated: Jun 19, 2019
Top 30 in the World rankings in Wheelchair Tennis, PhD in Economics. We caught up with Louise Willerslev-Olsen to take the Parasports World 60 second challenge. She failed miserably, clocking up nearly 7 minutes but it was 7 minutes worth of pure gold!! Harry Potter made an appearance, Louise's alter ego Batman is in there, not to mention that Spotify is purposefully going out of its way to mock her. Need an explanation? Read on...
Did you have a childhood nickname?
Ehm, Batman! I just played a lot of Counter Strike with my brother when I was younger and for some reason my name was always Batman. It kind of stuck.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
These are deep questions, you can’t answer these in 60 seconds!! I heard once that ‘The fear of failure is a powerful force that will hinder you from chasing your dreams’ and it think that’s totally true, you have to shake the fear.
How do you feel about the end pieces of a loaf of bread?
I LOVE THEM! I love bread in general, bread and butter is like my favourite dish! I mean white bread, of course.
If you could train with one person for a day, who would it be?
Serena Williams, I love her, she’s amazing.
Three pieces of kit you can’t live without?
Phone…I’m getting so stressed with the 60 seconds…lip gloss, no, lip balm! Credit Card. That’s boring isn’t it!
What’s your go to song?
Right now I’m liking ‘Meant to Be’ by Bebe Rexha. I always want to say that I listen to cool music but at the moment I feel like Spotify is mocking me! The suggestions I get are like Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and then the worse thing was they suggested an X-Factor created Danish band called City Boys, which was totally tragic. I hit rock bottom on that one.
Biggest success in your career?
Getting my Ph.D. in Economics.
Sneakiest thing you’ve ever done?
It’s not the sneakiest thing I’ve ever done but I guess in the last 24 hours it would be that I went up to the UNIQLO girls (who sponsor the event) and got a free under shirt from them. I got one last year I knew they were so high quality. It’s so soft, the best ever (Charlotte promises UNIQLO didn’t pay her to say that) and I wanted a new one! I felt very sneaky.
How do you deal with nerves before a race?
Hmmm. Not well! If it’s nerves in general I stress eat! Before a match I move around as much as I can to get the nervous energy out of my body and listen to some relaxing music.
Harry Potter, I can’t choose one of them it’s too difficult, so I’m just going to say all of them.
Best thing about being a Para-Athlete?
The people and the travel. I know it’s a cliché but it does make your world bigger.
