WHY PARACOACHING XCELLERATOR?

Sport’s importance to enhancing the social inclusion and equal opportunities of people with a disability is undeniable. The positive effects on overall well-being of sport and health enhancing physical activity is also widely accepted.

However, the majority of Europeans with a disability still do not have equal opportunities when it comes to accessing these benefits. Although standalone success stories exist, when considered EU wide, there is a slower development than expected.

Coaches are an integral element of the system and have a huge impact on the ability of organisations to recruit and retain people with a disability into their sports programmes.

Lack of financial resources, knowledge bases and opportunities for growth available to Parasport organisations hinder innovative solutions and target group specific development models.

Strategic development of ParaCoaching
ParaCoach Knowledge Transfers
Profile & Perception of ParaCoaching.

In order to achieve this, the project developed and implemented a sequence of ‘Xcellerator Sessions’ between key stakeholders in ParaCoaching, followed by local, sport specific Coach Community Building Events.

This resulted in a replicable framework, format and tools, combined with a regional marketing campaign.
