WHEELCHAIR TENNIS.
The rise of wheelchair tennis has started in 1976 when Brad Parks, a former US acrobat skier, together with wheelchair sports athlete Jeff Minnenbraker realised the potential to develop a new parasport.
Today, wheelchair tennis is one of the fastest growing wheelchair sports in the world: The ITF Wheelchair Tennis Tour incorporates over 150 tennis events taking place all over the world. The parasport has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1992 and wheelchair tennis events have been played at all four Tennis Grand Slams since 2007.
Wheelchair tennis follows the rules of tennis, with no modifications but with the exception of the two-bounce rule. It means that wheelchair tennis players are allowed two bounces of the ball before return. The wheelchair sport is governed by the International Tennis Federation.
